Craving a hearty meal but want to keep it on the healthier side? Try this healthy version of the famous Dutch “kapsalon.” While the original dish contains fries, shawarma, and heavy garlic sauce, this version gives you the same satisfaction with more nutritional value.
Ingredients for 2 people:
-
2 sweet potatoes
-
200g chicken breast
-
Shawarma seasoning (or mix paprika powder, cumin, and ginger)
-
1 ball of mozzarella
-
2 tbsp low-fat quark
-
Chicken marinade: 1 tsp Cajun seasoning, 1 tbsp chili sauce
-
1 tbsp olive oil
-
1 garlic clove
-
½ cucumber
-
20 cherry tomatoes
-
100g iceberg lettuce
-
Optional: salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F). Wash and chop the sweet potatoes, season with shawarma spices, and spread on a baking tray. Bake for 30 minutes, tossing halfway.
Cut the chicken into pieces and marinate with chili sauce and Cajun spices. Cook in olive oil until done.
Remove the tray from the oven, add the chicken and mozzarella pieces, and bake for another 5 minutes until the cheese melts.
Make a garlic sauce using quark, garlic, and salt/pepper to taste.
Divide everything over two bowls. Add the lettuce, cucumber slices, and halved cherry tomatoes. Drizzle with garlic sauce and enjoy!
