Now that we’re spending more time at home — and perhaps also more time in the kitchen — this is the perfect moment to make your own granola!
By combining different grains, seeds, nuts, and (dried) fruits, you can create endless variations to add to your yogurt or quark. Think of ingredients like oats, almonds, walnuts, pecans, raisins, apricots, cranberries, flaxseeds, sunflower seeds, and pumpkin seeds. You can also add shredded coconut or dark chocolate.
Ingredients (for approx. 15 servings):
-
1 ripe banana
-
1 vanilla pod (and optionally some extra vanilla extract)
-
50 g seeds (your choice)
-
100 g oats
-
75 g nuts (your choice)
-
50 g raisins
-
2 tbsp oil
Preparation:
Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
Put the banana in a food processor. Slice the vanilla pod open and scrape out the seeds with a knife. Add the vanilla and oil to the banana and mix well. Chop the nuts into pieces. Combine all the ingredients thoroughly and spread the mixture evenly over the baking tray. Bake the granola for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Tip:
You can vary endlessly with different nuts, seeds, and grains — so your granola will be a little different every time! After it has cooled, store it in an airtight container; it will stay fresh for at least a week.
