Flavored Water: Making Hydration Fun and Tasty
Drinking enough water is very important for our health.
The general recommendation is to drink 1.5 to 2 liters per day. But for many of us, this can be challenging — often because plain water is seen as flavorless and boring.
That’s why BenFit has some great ideas to make drinking water more enjoyable and delicious!
Why is drinking water so important?
When we don’t drink enough water, we can experience poor sleep, headaches, muscle cramps, and abdominal discomfort.
This is because our body is made up largely of water — about 75% in fact. Ideally, most of our cells would contain this same percentage of water, but that’s often not the case if we don’t drink enough fluids.
Water is also critical for our brain and blood. Our brain needs adequate hydration because it floats in a salty fluid and is itself made up of about 85% water.
One of the most important reasons to drink plenty of water is for our blood. Blood transports vitamins, minerals, and removes waste products. The thinner (well-hydrated) our blood is, the more efficiently it can perform this transport.
How to make drinking water more fun
Many people find plain water boring. Luckily, there are plenty of ways to make water tastier and more enjoyable to drink.
For example, try adding fruit or herbs to your water.
One of our favorites is lemon or lime with mint. Simply prepare a pitcher of water in the evening, add your favorite fruits and herbs, and let it chill in the fridge overnight. The next day, you’ll have a refreshing, healthy drink infused with vitamins and minerals from the fruit.
