More and more Dutch people are choosing to seek the sun during the Christmas holidays. Instead of gloomy snow, we prefer to head to palm beaches. Unfortunately, this also means that beach holidays during the Christmas period are becoming more expensive, and hotels are more likely to be fully booked than in previous years.
Roughly the same number of people as last year are heading to snowy destinations. After all, the sun can be found there too. Sunlight reflecting off snow helps the skin produce vitamin D, just like it does at the beach—although less skin is exposed.
The most important thing is to get rest. During vacations, we get a break from many obligations: work, household chores, social commitments. We live less by the clock and spend more time outdoors and being active. The Christmas holiday is also a great time to reflect on the past year and make plans and resolutions for the coming one. It’s a time for meaningful conversations with friends and family, and even to make new friends. A true time to unwind!
Whether a vacation is an option or not—make the most of this time of year!
