It’s recommended to get enough daily exercise. A walk during your lunch break is great, but it can become repetitive. So what are the alternatives?
-
Try a barefoot trail: You really feel the ground beneath your feet, and you use your feet in a completely different way. Walking becomes a unique experience.
-
Go for a bike ride: You cover more ground and see more scenery. Cycling also burns more energy per hour, so you burn more calories.
-
Skating, rollerblading, or inline skating: With nicer weather on the way, this is a super fun alternative to walking — a bit of old-school fun!
-
Play a team sport: When you’re playing a game, it doesn’t feel like working out. Try frisbee, volleyball, soccer, or basketball.
-
Swimming: Great for both summer and winter. In winter, it warms you up; in summer, it cools you down. You can swim laps or just toss a ball around. Even treading water uses plenty of energy.
-
Dancing:
It doesn’t feel like exercise — and it’s social. A win-win! Find a dance style that suits you. Maybe waltzing is your thing, or perhaps hip hop, jazz, salsa, or even lindy hop. You’ll find plenty of dance events on Facebook.
Moving more will make you feel better: it helps with depression, burns extra calories, is often a social activity, and improves your sleep.
Have fun!
