Going on vacation can sometimes bring stress and restlessness. Do you have everything with you? Have you wrapped up your work? Did you forget to arrange anything?
A checklist
A checklist is helpful if you want to leave with peace of mind. Make a list of everything that still needs to be done before departure. For example, a packing list, but also tasks such as checking insurance or buying groceries. Try to start on time and tick off the items as you go. Creating an overview can help clear your head. You’ll feel less stress because you know exactly what still needs to be done!
Tidy house
Clean up the house before leaving—ideally the day before. A tidy home is nice to return to, but it also helps you feel calm when departing. Leaving in chaos often adds to the stress. Taking time to tidy up gives you clarity and helps you leave with a relaxed feeling.
Letting go
Don’t dwell too long on what you might have forgotten. Just make sure you have the essentials like tickets, keys, passport, wallet, etc. Everything else can usually be replaced!
Notes
You might suddenly think of things you still need to do, or you may want to write down your thoughts. The best ideas often come when you are truly relaxed! When you’re back home, you can look over what you wrote down. For now, just write it down, let go, and enjoy your vacation.
Breathing
Need extra relaxation? Try a breathing exercise to de-stress. Take a few deep breaths in and out. With each exhale, feel the tension leave your body. Proper breathing can quickly help you feel better.
Enjoying
If you leave in a relaxed state, you can immediately start enjoying your vacation! Focus on the here and now. Vacations usually come with a slower rhythm. There’s not much you need to worry about. Don’t spend all your time planning or thinking about the days ahead.
