Relaxing is incredibly important: it’s good for your health and makes you happier. But how can you stay relaxed throughout the day?
With these tips, life will hopefully become more manageable and peaceful.
-
Mindfulness.
For those unfamiliar: mindfulness means being aware of your surroundings, your body, and truly being in the present moment. We often focus on what needs to happen next or what went wrong in the past. But now is the only thing that truly exists.
Try to feel your breath without judging or changing it. Notice the temperature, feel how your feet rest on the ground. If you do this regularly, you’ll experience much more calm. -
Plan moments to relax.
Even if it’s just five minutes. Relaxation doesn’t just happen — you need to make time for it. Planning and setting that time aside is essential. There will always be tasks waiting for you, but by consciously scheduling downtime, it becomes easier to let go. -
Put things into perspective.
Mistakes and problems are usually not as bad as they seem. Most problems are not life-threatening — you’re still here! Ask yourself: “Will I still care about this in a year?” Suddenly, it feels far less serious. -
Take a step back and get an overview.
Try making a list of all your current projects, how important each one is, and what needs to be done. Once it’s written down, it’s out of your head — and that alone brings relief. -
Only do things you enjoy or that truly need to be done.
While making the list above, you may realize that some tasks don’t really belong to any meaningful project. By cutting out these time- and energy-draining obligations, you free up breathing space. Say “no” more often before taking on something new — it’s easier than quitting halfway through.
